主题:Can we perform Coherent Detection without DSP in Datacenter Interconnects?

The abstract is:

Recently we have witnessed phenomenal demand for ever increasing bandwidth in datacenter networks driven by emergence of generative AI such as ChatGPT and Sora. There is consensus that coherent communication will gradually penetrate into shorter or shorter reaches in datacenter networks.  In this talk, we propose the concept of quasi frequency-synchronous optical network (FSON) architecture in order to simplify coherent optical detection. We also will present a novel optical carrier phase recovery scheme based on optical phase-locked loop. We then will showcase the world-first polarization and phase demultiplexing of DP-QPSK signals in optical domain without employing electronic DSP. Our proposed DSP-free coherent detection provides an attractive solution for next generation datacenter transport with low cost and power consumption.

Speaker:
